Why Have you Not Overcome your Hypothyroidism?

There are several reasons why your thyroid began to malfunction but there is very little point dwelling on this. You cannot turn back the clock you have to address the problems that you have here and now!

You have most likely suffered from an under active thyroid for a number of years and are probably taking medication for the condition. You have now almost certainly resigned yourself to the fact that you will never be cured because this is most likely what your doctor has told you.

There are however other solutions and treatments for hypothyroidism than simply taking daily medication.

Research has proven that by following a properly formulated hypothyroidism diet you can dramatically reduce the effects of an under active thyroid and start living a normal life once again.

If you begin to believe that you can overcome your hypothyroidism you are on the way to actually achieving it.


If you want to overcome your hypothyroidism there are two things that you need to start focussing on immediately.

Remove the Thyroid inhibitors from your diet.

It will be evident to you that the majority of these foods are generally accepted as being foods that would normally be included as part of a healthy diet.

There is no suggestion that eating these vegetables will result in a healthy person developing thyroid problems but anyone who actually has a thyroid disorder will probably find that consuming goitrogenic foods will aggravate their condition.

Start Eating Foods that will help to stimulate your thyroid.

Brazil nuts, Hazel nuts and Macadamia are also high in selenium which is required to enable the thyroid to function correctly.

If you suffer from hypothyroidism one of your symptoms is likely to be weight gain. Certain fresh fruits and vegetables such as cherries, blueberries, green peppers and sweet potatoes are all high density, low calorie foods, which are extremely high in nutrients and antioxidants and are recognised as being helpful in lowering the risk of heart disease.

Edible seaweed is also a great source of calcium, fibre and vitamins A, B, C, E and K. It also contains a high concentration of iodine which is essential for the production of the thyroid hormone.

Certain types of beans are a useful addition to the diet of anyone suffering from an underactive thyroid. They contain vitamins, minerals, complex carbohydrates, antioxidants and protein and are also high in fibre. They are a terrific source of energy which is extremely useful if your hypothyroidism is leaving you feeling drained.

You may have actually already tried one of the so called hypothyroidism diets. Unfortunately simply leaving certain foods out of your diet and including others is not enough.

For any hypothyroidism diet to be successful you not only need to be eating the correct foods but you need to balance and manage your diet correctly in order for your body to gain the maximum benefit.
